BBC 1 Home Is Where The Art Is

Yes it’s back and been a while in coming, BBC 1 ‘Home Is Where The Art Is, for those who did not know I won the commission on Programme 13 in the last series. A wonderful experience, to see the way the BBC create a programme and such a wonderful team.

I have made so many friends and been lucky enough to work with so many talented people.

Busy during Lockdown creating new work and experimenting with ideas and processes, all in all very pleased with the results….. Soon come.

Art by Robin Ross June

Well its 22nd of June so all downhill until winter now. Strange few days looking to find new suppliers as they are either closing or increased costs by 75%, but looking good thanks to a lot of searching days. Trips to Portugal in 2021 looking good, virtually that is but who knows.

Original Image from Sophie Grace White, it’s the shirt that’s put on weight not me…

Fathers Day always tricky but managed in the end.

Studio is my Oasis in this November weather, some fine commission enquiries coming in challenging but very rewarding.

Always good when a creative visits especially at the distance, still selling through various platforms and getting pieces framed for home. Some days mojo slips a little and others I cannot stop, with Shuffle and good folks, exercise and good diet all good in the hood…

Art by Robin Ross Lockdown Latest

Just about to work on new prints and some new ideas, also have time for commissions so all good.

Sometimes nice to experiment and dismantle an image, also having fun with numerous hand cut screens and a one colour overlay plus Gold and Copper leaf applied by hand. Pieces off to Holland, Germany and London at the moment and a commission piece based around Sheffield.

Part of an Accrington Brick on the beach, these bricks are legendary and so strong, many of the houses where I live have the fronts made from this brick, a defence against the sea air.

The sun is shining today so it’s lock down in my studio, working on commissions, slowly but surely.

Todays Easter Monday

Todays image is from Habana and as I walked on the Promenade today and sat in the sunshine I remembered my first visit to Cuba, a real bucket list trip and I had waited most of my years to get there.

Reading today and enjoying fresh food and really quite enjoying isolation, reason why well on my walk an obnoxious woman would not cycle on the road instead of the pavement trying to run me over, then two brilliant police officers asked a guy to move on from the promenade and why he was there, the officers kept their cool and were superbly professional. I’ll take the officers anytime over the prats, thank you Lancashire Police.

Isolation I could get used to, probably would need a Radio and TV, listened to Radio Caroline today, and am sure I’m going to do it this year, well do my best, proper music radio.

Day 1 lockdown and walking

So the plus of being locked down is that I can be isolated in my home or in my studio, same thing really. Except at home I watch YouTube and in my studio it’s DAB or Shuffle.

Watching the Basement Tapes on YouTube and its awesome, the story behind the legendary sessions. The idea is when I am locked away I catch up on so much, we’ll see. Buses and Trams almost empty so all good. New Website is up and running so take a look.

This image provided the inspiration for one of my first ever prints think I took it in the 90’s so all change then, even found CBGB’s so must have been a while ago. Think it still holds up so might do it again.
